Its founder, Tony Dean has an established reputation as a designer, engraver and sculptor, and has worked in the minting industry for more than twenty years including both the Royal Australian Mint and the Perth Mint.
The motivation to begin Medal Art Mint came as a result of a need to further develop creative opportunities for the ‘Art Medal’ industry in Australia. Currently there are only a very small number of artists producing medals of creative quality. Medal Art Mint aims to work collaboratively with Australian artists – sculptors and engravers, and the minting industry to provide creative quality minted products and services at an international level.
The design studio for Medal Art Mint is based on the southern NSW coast in the Bega Valley. Bega Valley is approximately 400km south of Sydney, 600km north of Melbourne and 250km east of Canberra. Fast access to customers’ needs is available via air travel and electronic communication throughout the progress of each job.
The manufacturing facilities for Medal Art Mint are a small but developing facility utilising both traditional and new state of the art methods and equipment.
Medal Art Mint consists of two main divisions.

Minted Products manufacture
Custom minting of medals, medallions, tokens and plaques as commissioned
by the educational sector, corporate sector, local, state and federal
governments, event organisers, professional associations and societies.
Medal Art Mint will manage your minted project from design stage working to your brief, through the sculpting of the masters, production and final packaging and delivery.

Mint Industry Services and Consultancy
Pre-production service provision and process assessment and development
for the mint industry.
Services
to the mint industry consist of design preparation for coins, medals,
medallions and tokens according to your provided brief. The sculpting
of plaster models. Reducing machine provision with a world class Janvier
quality finish.
Consulting for the pre-production process offering technical assessment
and subsequent advice in process developments. Assessments can be provided
for all pre-production stages from coin design through to steel selection
for master tooling.
